Calcium chloride (83-87% flakes) is mainly used as a dust suppressant and de-icing agent. It is also used for ballasting trailer and heavy machinery tires. Moreover, calcium chloride (83-87% flakes) is used for drilling permafrost in arctic regions.

Description of Xtra85

Calcium chloride Xtra85 in flakes has an average concentration of 85%. The product is a result of in-plant transformation of natural brine. This transformation allows it to maximize its hygroscopic¹ potential. The process as a whole also allows the extraction of less-performing elements such as magnesium chloride or straight out undesirables such as potassium chloride and sodium chloride.

Dust suppressant

When applied to unpaved roads, parking areas, golf cart paths and bike trails, Xtra85 prevents the development of dust by continuously absorbing moisture from the air, binding small dust particles to larger aggregate.

10% savings

Spraying of Xtra85 is performed in the same manner as calcium chloride 77% with the exception that the rate of application is reduced by 10%.

For example, for an annual consumption of 40 metric tons of calcium chloride 77%, only 36 metric tons of Xtra85 are necessary to obtain equivalent results.
